What you will need:
- Group of 3
- Blue, white and red play-dough
- Measuring tools
- Interactive whiteboard labelled as the Sun
- Science workbooks
Instructions:
- Roll blue play-dough to a sphere, 1 cm in diameter (Earth).
- Roll white play-dough to a sphere, 3 mm in diameter (Moon).
- Roll red play-dough to a sphere, 5 mm in diameter (Mars).
- Observe and record your observations of the scaled size of the planets and rock in your science workbook.
- Using the interactive whiteboard as the Sun, measure 1.5 m and have a member of your group stand in this spot with the play-dough made Earth.
- Measure 1.88 m from the Sun and have another member of your group stand in this spot with the play-dough made Moon.
- Measure 2.3 m from the Sun and stand in this spot with the play-dough made Mars.
- Observe and record your observations of the scaled distance between the planets and rock in your science workbook.
